I'm a volunteer signalman on the Churnet Valley Railway in Consall signalbox and I have a machine exactly like that in the signalbox to control the single-line section to Leekbrook Junction.

The token not only ensures one train at a time in the section, it is also used by the signalman to set the points and signals to allow trains to proceed or not - those are interlocked electrically with the Tyres machine. So if a token is already 'out' for the section not only can you not issue another one to another train, you also cannot set the points and signals to allow another train into the section.Vince Chadwickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09574535415334583121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2157596724577720469.post-17817071101712629952018-02-26T14:38:40.420+00:002018-02-26T14:38:40.420+00:00I worked for Cerebos Salt on Booth Lane in the 60/...I worked for Cerebos Salt on Booth Lane in the 60/70s and one of the tasks in the warehouse was to label Woolworths orders for each Store separately as all their goods were dispatched by rail from Middlewich by rail.......never saw it actually go onto rail happen but.......
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
