I noticed that someone was speaking about fami...Hi<br /><br />I noticed that someone was speaking about families in Stanthorne. Travelling from Middlewich and the first house after Stanthorne Cross Roads has connections to Dickens. It was the home of the Joules family who became wealthy from the Salt Industry. My Mother was a lifelong friend of a lady who married a James Joule.<br />Further along on the left was the home of the Dalby family; Mr. Dalby was employed as Dentist at I.C.I. Winnington. We played in some of the vacant rooms in his house when we visited the farm at the rear of the property.<br /><br />Also at the top of Spittle Hill on the left was the home of the Carnegie family; Renee France Hayhurst married a Carnegie and as mentioned they ran horse riding stables.
